2004-2009
Guy started his full time role at Scunthorpe United in 2004.
His roles included Assistant Academy Manager, Head Coach of the U16s, Assistant Coach of the U18s and 1st Team Fitness Coach.
One of Guy's major achievements was enabling Scunthorpe United to be the 2nd academy in the country to be based at a school with a 4G pitch. Scunthorpe United followed Watford FC who were the first, based at Harefield School.
Whilst working at Scunthorpe United, Guy was inspired by visits to AC Milan and Juventus.
Both visits included watching the academy age groups and the first teams train, discussions with the first team players and coaching staff, and a 1:1 session with Cesare Maldini, the Italian manager at the time.
From these experiences, Guy set up an arrangement with Stefano Eranio, for 3 trips over 3 years, to take young English players to Italy to be coached by the AC Milan coaches. Each event saw 14 players take the trip to Italy to have a fantastic coaching experience.
While working full time in football, Guy spent evenings at Leeds Beckett University receiving a distinction in the MSc in Sport & Exercise Science.
Guy's passion has always been to aid the development of academy footballers and achieving this qualification underlined this commitment and supported his objectives.
Guy completed his UEFA "A" Licence in this period.
Achieving a score of 81% for his 11 v 11 coaching drill, this was the highest score in the 2006 UEFA "A" qualification.
This course was a fantastic achievement as only eight out of the thirty six attendants passed the course. This moved Guy’s tactical passion for football even further forward.

2002-2003
During this period, Guy worked full time at Sheffield Wednesday FC.
The roles that he undertook were U10 Age Group Coach, U16 Assistant Age Group Coach and 1st Team Skill Development Coach.
This was a great opportunity to work on technical and skill development across young age groups and also first team professional players.
During this time, Guy also finished his BSc Sport & Exercise Science qualification at Leeds Beckett University.
Whilst working full time in football, the knowledge gained from the sports science studies, helped him improve his coaching for players.
Guy also completed his UEFA "B" qualification during this time period. This was Guy's first major challenging football qualification.
This built Guy's football coaching confidence and enabled him to provide more detailed tactical coaching sessions across the different age groups.

1998-2001
This was Guy's first opportunity to work at a top level academy with fantastic facilities.
Here, Guy used his skill development knowledge, obtained through playing and being committed to the Coerver Coaching skill development process.
Guy undertook skill development coaching with the U7 & U8 age groups at Sheffield United. This group included an 8 year old Harry McGuire.
During this timeframe, Guy also managed the Coerver Coaching arrangement in West Yorkshire, creating events for players to develop their technical skills. This was delivered at schools, clubs and academies. Guy delivered numerous personal training sessions, using content created by Alf Galustian (co-founder of Coerver) and former Chelsea great Charlie Cooke.
This also included teaching school PE staff at regional organised events on how to instruct technical football development sessions for their pupils
Guy's coaching career started at Halifax Town with the U13 age group. The role involved coaching two nights per week and undertaking the games on a Sunday morning against all other Northern-based academies.
Guy worked incredibly hard on improving both the training and game facilities for all academy age groups.
This opportunity started Guy's drive to help the development of academy players.
